Ethiopia

Pelicans fight over a fish dinner in Lake Tana, Ethiopia. The greenish blue waters of Lake Tana serve as the source of the Blue Nile, one half of the great river that once served as lifeblood to the Ancient Egyptians. Today the lake is home to a number of remote but beautiful island monasteries.

On the way to one of those monasteries we passed by a local fisherman in a traditional papyrus boat who was throwing some fish to the resident pelicans.

A pelican floating around on Lake Tana, Bahir Dar. These funny looking birds are the coolest I've ever seen. They are so big, that they almost look like tiny boats.
