The food was amazing, the option for coffee or tea at anytime was nice, the view from the hotel was otherworldly with just a short walk down to the water. The staff was so friendly and met our many needs. Because it was so wet and rainy, the drying room and sauna really came in handy!! Loved everything about this place!
Warm welcome from the staff at hotel. Bedroom view over mountain was amazing! Dinner and breakfast catered for my vegetarian needs. Lounge had free hot drinks. A memorable stay!
The hotel is in a unique location, which is part of its appeal, but does make it difficult to get to when there are issues with the train, which happened with us. The breakfast and dinner were good, but dinner was a little expensive, although that is to be expected because of the remote location and it being the only option around. The hotel was a little dated and worn, and blackout curtains, or at least darker curtains, are needed during the long summer daylight hours. Staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable, except for the lack of darker curtains. The area surrounding the hotel is beautiful.
We were given a room that what seemed an unfinished room.
Door was impossible to lock from outside, mentioned to the staff but no correction.
Bathroom handle did not work
Edge of bath not sealed to wall and water went on to floor when having a shower.
Bath panel not fixed, loose.
No bedside lights to read or central room light etc..
Need I go on!
Location of hotel good, also the food.

Good stay. Would recommend. Only thing - Wanted to do a short hike around this isolated property which is located in a stunning setting but the person at the desk was unable to give us advice. The hikes I found online were 3 to 5 hours, too long after a day of travel. We just walked around a bit. It’s a charming hotel from the heyday. I like that it is not modern. Old furniture and a pool table was a bonus!
I asked for two twin beds. They were together so close they were touching. They are narrow twins so my teen son and I moved them apart after removing the wee side tables on either end. It was like Tetris. We put the tables in the middle and it worked nicely. The staff is very sweet.
My son enjoyed the buffet dinner, 525nok. This place was an alternative from Oslo to Flam. We took the train the next morning there. The station is literally steps away.
Spotlessly clean. Simple accommodations but perfectly comfortable. Multiple comfy seating setups in the common areas with lovely views. Breakfast is healthy and hearty, dinner is tasty and the service is very friendly, helpful and attentive. One can also take-away a sandwich from the breakfast spread for your hike, for a very small fee. As everywhere we have traveled in Scandinavia, their English is excellent. The hotel is on a popular hiking trail, lots to see. Many waterfalls and snow-topped hills and rivers and lakes. It is quiet and calming. The hotel is a very short walk up from the Flåm Rail Vatnahalsen stop.
The information on the hotels.com website is confusing. This hotel is NOT located in Flåm, as incorrectly shown on one of the maps which I will include below. We took the Flåm Railway to Flåm and quickly realized that we were in the wrong town. The hotel is only accessible by train and bicycle. Luckily with the help of the kind ticket-staff, we just caught the last train back to Vatnahalsen.
Kristine, the manager was incredibly informative and engaging.
