"We had a great time. Staff were great (mostly) and really helpful and friendly. Food in the restaurant was excellent, my wife and I loved every dish. The bar was well stocked with some great (and favourite) scotch so that was a bonus. We arrived Friday and left Sunday and on the Saturday we had a late lunch which was lovely, sat outside in the garden with the local church in view. Room was comfy and we had the bonus of a little private courtyard which was unexpected. Our only negative came on Sunday morning when we came to breakfast. Saturday we'd opted for breakfast in the room which was good, one note, full English could do with either beans or tinned tomatoes as its a bit dry without. Good quality bacon and sausage though. Sunday went to the breakfast location to be met by member of staff we hadn't seen before who informed us that breakfast wasn't here it was in the bar. I say informed, told us as if we were idiots for not knowing. She escorted us to the bar to a tiny table and asked if we knew about buffet. We didn't so she then took us back to the room we'd originally gone to where we found the buffet and dozens of guests waiting to order breakfast! Back in the bar we were the only people without young children. Obviously now walking back and forward to the real location for drinks and toast. We discovered as we left that there was a bridal fair on in the breakast room which would explain the banishment. Better communication and review would be excellent."

"Absolutely revolting. The corridor smelt of urine. The amount of cobwebs in the room was a joke. There was several millimetres of dust on the lampshade, the paint was peeling off the walls in large patches, the cheap flat pack furniture was all chipped which really stood out as it was all dark grey/black and the paint in the bathroom had given up and gone home. The breakfast was poor, even the bacon was awful. The grapes actually had mould on them. The coffee in the room was undrinkable. It is such a shame as this hotel really lets a beautiful city down. "

"Sofisticated elegant clean and very comfortable. Beautiful rooms with extra lounge rooms with second TV. Lovely showers. Breakfast was simple but fresh well presented and clean. Bars comfy and reasonable prices. Lovely outdoor area with a Stokes Tea room selling lovely food. Amazing Tapas restaurant opposite and a nice pub too. Location is perfect for cathedral and castle especially useful for university graduations. Easy walk to Steep Hill cute shops and the big shopping area. Also there is a little "secret garden" in the grounds which is beautiful and a great place to sit and relax. We loved our stay, it was our second visit and would be our first choice for future trips."
