The Belmont Hotel

6/10 Okay

"The room could use a good cleaning, especially around the windows and lights. The junior suite lacked air conditioning so a fan was provided on request. Otherwise, the hotel is in a great location offering a peaceful night’s sleep, plenty of restaurants and helpful friendly staff. I asked for extra water which was provided but it would be better if it was always available in the room given the hot weather. The sink water is drinkable but I’m not comfortable with that. There’s plenty of parking space although I didn’t use a car and I’m sure you can register with the hotel if you do. Overall, it’s worth checking out and some modernisation and cleaning would be nice in a suite. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to wake up early for breakfast on my last night because I had a late night and the hotel staff were wonderful enough to give me a late check out. However, my sleep was broken by staff calling me to check in which was a bit irritating since I had already confirmed a late check-in before I went to bed. Why would you call a guest staying then apologise for waking them up? It’s a bit daft."

"I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel so welcome with their kindness and professionalism. Their warm hospitality really made my experience special. I also loved the amenities — everything was well-maintained and added so much comfort to my stay. The food was absolutely delicious, and every meal was something to look forward to. Thank you to the entire team for making my visit so memorable. I genuinely appreciated the care and effort, and I would be happy to return again."

"This is a superb hotel but I think your experience depends very much on the room you choose. The grounds are vast and various accommodation built on a hill, with reception in the beautiful main hotel whilst the restaurant and pool are higher up. Buggies are available to take guests around and the views can be spectacular. I originally booked a cosy double without thinking about the importance of the view. Although thoughtfully placed on the ground floor to aid my mobility, the room overlooked a wall and felt dark and depressing for me as a solo traveller. Couples or families may feel differently. Reception staff appreciated my dilemma, were excellent and helped me move to a beautiful room with a balcony on the same level as the restaurant and pool. It completely changed my stay. I did pay more, but for this hotel I would absolutely recommend paying extra for the balcony and view. The lodges also looked lovely. The restaurant had a modern atmosphere with background music and very attentive staff. Breakfast was buffet style whilst dinner was waiter service, yet I still felt completely comfortable dining alone. The pool was lovely, the massage was fabulous and everywhere was clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay again, but next time I would be much wiser about my room choice."

"Had an adequate but underwhelming stay here over the bank holiday weekend. 3 weddings in 2 days made for a busy hotel. Rooms in need of some TLC. The cleaner hadn’t cleaned the toilet properly before we checked in & we were met by someone else’s poo stains. Took 45 mins for room service to bring us some ice. Food in restaurant was mixed - risotto was amazing, burger very basic - and service was slow. Bar area looks into the area where the weddings are held, so no nice relaxing views. Nothing luxurious about this hotel. Won’t be back."
