Weekend Getaway

So we just wrapped up our stay here and I want to begin by acknowledging one of the coolest parts of the stay, the owner. He is an amazingly interesting man and was wonderful to talk to, make time to do this. It is definitely off the beaten path but that is probably what you are looking for in Berea. When we pulled up to the house, we were greeted by a pack of rambunctious and loving dogs which made it even better. I got to get them thoroughly riled up and then we headed up to the porch where the owner was waiting for us. He gave us a quick tour and some background on the house and the area (very knowledgeable). The inn is actually heated and cooled by geothermal power so that is a plus and they have a Tesla charger for those with an electric car. The room was wonderful (Lee), very clean and spacious, and the view was incredible. But the high points had to be the food (I had stuffed french toast, and I hate french toast, but this was other-worldly.), and the conversational with the owner (ask about the UMWA, or Boone's Trace.) It was a wonderful trip and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get away and experience a little luxury.

Run away! Run away!

The place looks nothing like the photos. In front yard was a car with the hood up. Rooms were not ready when we arrived. Staff doing cleaning was surly. Rest room was dirty with the only towel being a dirty kitchen rag. Cobwebs hung in corners. Didn't trust kitchen to be clean. We left and headed for the highway, even though we had already paid for the night.

Should Be Called The Bates Motel

NOTHING like the photos online. Very unkept. Outside and inside not maintained well. So bad that we left without spending the night and didn't even care that we had lost about $170. We and another couple that arrived before us both left and never returned after a long, weird conversation with the owner. I would NOT recommend this inn to anyone. We actually would have felt unsafe staying here. Very weird atmosphere!

Misleading service and misleading description

The inn was not clean inside. There was family drama both nights in the early AM. Not recommended at all.

We enjoyed our stay at this unusual Inn. It was quiet and relaxing. The host was great and he spent time to visit with us.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

A delightful Inn on a remote, relaxed country road not too far from lovely restaurants and artist galleries. Our room was beautifully equipped for comfort and luxury. The Lee Suite had all the trappings of a fine hotel, but with so much more style. The innkeeper had lots of interesting stories and plenty of tips for enjoying the local area, and our breakfast was delicious and gourmet.

Outstanding Breakfast

We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs and talking to the owner. We used the jacuzzi and the jets obviously had not been cleaned properly because a seaweed looking substance came into the water when we turned the jets on. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. The house is beautiful and our breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious and we met a couple that we are sure to meet up with again.

Best place to stay in the whole town!

When I started looking for a place to stay on the night after my wedding I wanted to find a place to relax and rest after a couple of days of lots of stress from planning the wedding! I decided we didn't want to drive too far from the wedding site and wanted to have a great breakfast waiting on us plus a fun day ahead and this place couldn't have been any better! I was blown away by all the details of the room and the rest of the house, it was beautiful and everything was just perfect for us!!!

Just OK

The reviews on Trip Advisor were so excellent that we made reservations. However, for our two-night stay we did not have any service such as our bed made or our rooms cleaned up, the owner told us that the front door was left unlocked 24 hours a day, there were flies in the kitchen the first morning we came down to breakfast and our food was all soaked in butter. There were no simple amenities such as cold drinks or cookies that most Bed and Breakfasts have. This is not an inexpensive place and we were disappointed. On the positive, the owner is so kind and friendly. We had a warm welcome. He gave us lots of good directions on where to go for dinner, etc. Still we will not return.

Authentic Berea meets Modern

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. The purpose of our trip was to learn a bit about the Appalachian region and related arts and crafts. Ira is extremely knowledgeable about both and was as nice as the accommodations in his Inn.

A B&B That Puts the Quiet in Country

There is off the beaten track, and then there is the Pinnacle View Inn. This B&B is way out there, but in life, the journey IS the adventure, and your drive from Berea out into the Kentucky countryside will put you into a clean, comfortable room for the night in a spacious contemporary home designed with green technology by the affable owner/innkeeper, who will relate stories to you, show you his folk art collection and don a chef's toque and jacket to cook you an ample breakfast. The air conditioning is especially quiet due to the geo-thermal HVAC system. In the evening, you will sit out in a rocking chair on the porch to watch the sun set behind a rural scene of rolling farms and hills or knobs, the geology of which your host will cheerfully explain to you. We stopped here to break up the trip between Dayton, Ohio and Asheville, NC and browsed around Berea's artisan shops, but the best collection of everything is to be found in the tourist welcome center.

Outstanding

My wife and I stayed here for our first night. It was fantastic. I bought the romance package and it was definitely worth it. Nothing beats sipping on champagne, eating chocolate, and relaxing in the biggest tub I've ever seen. 5 stars definitely going again!!!

Most enjoyable stay in a country setting

Very nice and comfortable accomodations- Great breakfast! Great host at the Inn. Do not get discouraged as we did as you drive into the location- once there everything was great. There for the Berea College reunion and it was a great choice.

Review of Pinnacle View Inn, May '15

Outstanding service & B&B. Recommend weekday stay since it's more personal when you & your significant other are the only guests. If you're there in May/June, be sure & settle - in out in the front, after sunset, to enjoy the once-in-a-Lifetime Fire-fly show in the field, across the way. It's truly a spectacle of God.

Nice Stay Could Be Great

We stayed at the Pinnacle View Inn on a visit to Berea. Ira the inn keeper was very personable, knowledgeable and friendly. The Inn itself was nice. Our room was clean and spacious. I couldn't get the jets to work in the Jacuzzi tub but I did not ask for assistance. The decor around the common areas was a bit cluttered and tidying up would improve the setting greatly. And now for breakfast: it was fantastic. Ira is a self-proclaimed foody and the meal showed. I had an omelet that was amazing in flavor and presentation. My wife had the stuffed french toast and it was fabulous. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. Breakfast was definitely the highlight of the stay.

Close to perfect...

Everything was as good or better than expected... Food prep and presentation both outstanding; Innkeeper and staff pleasant, attentive. Accommodations were a neat combination of rustic and modern. Looking forward to our next excuse to spend some time there again!

Valentine Get A Way

This surprise Valentine's Get A Way could not have turned out better. The Inn was amazing! We were at home immediately with the gorgeous surroundings and welcoming personality of Dr. Bates! Our suite was everything we could have asked for in a romantic evening! The dining experience for both dinner and breakfast was fabulous! Full bellies and great conversation. We didn;t want to leave! We are anxious to return again when it is Spring and in full bloom. Regina and Mark

Wonderful!

We loved staying at the Pinnacle. Going off the highway for a bit was a lovely way to explore the area. The bed was very comfy and the omelette in the morning was the kind you keep thinking about forever as it was so delicious! The host was very enjoyable and informative.

Wonderful!!!

This was a delightful experience! It was beautiful to get off the highway and enjoy the countryside. The GPS took us there easily. We drove a little bit in the dark which was not so easy. The sunset in the mountains is lovely there. It was clean and comfy. The host was very enjoyable with pleasant conversation and information about the area. The omelette lingers in my memory with deliciousness!

A Nice Find

Ira was very attentive and helpful. Drive to get there was a challenge. It is in the boonies but a nice place to really get away from it all. Drive to Berea is about 15 minutes for acceptable dining. Stuffed french toast was a real treat.

Can't wait to return

My husband and I stayed the weekend here while we were in town for a festival and shopping in October. The Inn and its surroundings are beautiful, I enjoyed the property and the furry friends outside. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The butter pecan pancakes are a MUST! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and cannot wait to return.
