"Avoid this scam! We booked this hotel and payed in advance with Expedia. As we checked out the hotel asked for 100 USD for 2 nights which is way higher than it should be. As of now(2020/01/25) the hotel claims that they don't work with Expedia. The host speaks only numbers and a few English words making communication impossible and scamming quite possible. Carved out of the surrounding bedrock in the 12th & 13th centuries, the churches were intended to be a "New Jerusalem", an African Jerusalem. The greatest of these churches is the iconic Bete Giyorgis. Today the 11 churches are part open air museum and part active pilgrimage destination for Ethiopians.
