"Though there were exceptions, the people at the desk were misleading and unhelpful. We were not allowed to park in the hotel parking lot because we arrived earlier than check in time, which required an extra expense, and a big inconvenience as we had to carry our bags to the parking lot assigned. On checking out, we were misled about how the lot we were supposed to use was to be paid. When we checked out, we needed to get our bags from out of storage and had to wait until a security person arrived -- that person didn't, and then the desk person finally was willing to get our luggage when another guest was checking in. The toilet paper roll in the room when we arrived was nearly empty (though there was another roll available.) The air condiioning was set on celsius, which was confusing (New Jersey is pretty far from anyplace that uses celsius). The machines downstairs to get beverages and snacks were confusing and defective and out of product. We will never stay at this hotel again."

"The female desk clerk was rude, I was told that the breakfast staff was making fun of an over weight guest. They were pointing fingers. Shaking there head on how big she was. Coming from the back to show other staff members. So rude. I would not recommend a dog to stay at this location, I have nothing good to say about this location but it had a bed for me to sleep. Never again. And I plan on returning next year NEVER AGAIN!"

"We had a wonderful stay at this modern hotel in downtown Montclair. the location was excellent, with many restaurants and shops within walking distance, making it easy to explore the area. The hotel restaurant was convenient, and we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast there. The food was fresh, well prepared and good quality. The parking was very expensive. We were able to find some street parkings."

"We first checked in. Everything was fine until we tried to open the door with the card keys that didn't work went up-and-down the long hallways 3 times to the front desk and finally got in. The next morning got locked out again. Had to get the made to do a trick to open up the door. it's just ridiculous tgat they don't fix them.And then in the morning ordering breakfast from the kitchen in the lobby and was treated rudely and the young girl with the dyed grey hair was not nice to us at all. I couldn't recommend this place to anyone."

"Very nice boutique hotel located in a quiet area of Montclair. The staff is super friendly and goes the extra mile to be helpful (I have left behind an AirPod - they found it and shipped it to my home). The design makes the place one-of-a-kind. The whole property is clean and well-maintained. I gave it an overall 4 stars because of a few small things that, in my view, the management should address to make the customer experience truly remarkable: the bathroom door in our room (Martha) is in bad need of some WD-40, the room above us needs better insulation or a rug on the floor - we had someone up there going to the bathroom every hour or so throughout the night wearing heavy shoes/boots, the breakfast was missing still water and - a small suggestion: upgrade the coffee machine to a Jura - it will go very weel with the gourmet food that you are serving. Despite the small inconveniences described above, we would highly recommend The George!"
