"I see the staff read the comments so writing this to be as constructive as possible. I booked this hotel because I was looking for a pool. I didn’t realize how much of a spa it actually is. So I only really used the pool - I can’t really comment on the other aspects which people seemed to enjoy. The other caveat here is that I probably stayed in one of the cheaper rooms so you get what you pay for.
1) Straight out the gate, the staff are lovely and helpful. They tolerated my crap French and that always warms my heart. But everything was super efficient
2) the restaurant is amazing. Tremendous quality for the price.
3) few amenities. For a place that considers itself a spa this was a bit surprising. No cream rince? Bring everything you need (as someone who was travelling light for the weekend, this was a pain). There is barely even any coffee.
4) the walk to the hotel from the station was less than scenic, but only 10 minutes. The area is bit run down relative to the rest of the city and the road is a construction site. That said, the other paths to the town square are absolutely charming and it was basically 10 minutes to anywhere you want to go on foot.
5) I kept hearing thumping, and wondering if my neighbours were having a good time, but it turned out that I was next to the stairs. Light sleepers will want to avoid, but it didn’t bother me too much.
6) most frustrating thing was how hard it was to know when things were open. Signs were inconsistent but staff helped"
"This hotel was the perfect location for our stay in Aix-en-Provence.
Less than a 10 minute walk to the old town
It was convenient, clean, staff excellent and just a perfect location.
I would certainly recommend"
"Excellent location. It had a parking space for my car. The room was like suite. The double bed was comfortable and very roomy for 2. The room was modern newly renovated. The air conditioner was excellent and quiet. The bathroom was modern and had all needed amenities. I highly recommended and would stay there again."
"The hotel and the staff were excellent. The front desk personnel were thoughtful, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. It was easy to park our car and the walk into
town was also very good.
We had cancelled an alternate hotel
as this hotel had a outdoor pool to relax by. Unfortunately, the pool was closed for two of the 4 days which was extremely disappointing. There could have been an adjustment on the price given this was the primary reason we picked the hotel."
"The facility is upscale, clean and well kept. The main issue was the restaurant staff. The hotel has 4 restaurants and there is large number of staff they hired. However, the staff were untrained and uncoordinated. For instance we saw the reception and let them know we are there for a drink late night, and they seated us. Another server came by and said this restaurant (La Source) is only for eating and asked us to leave. That left a horrible taste and totally ruined the night.
Same issues at breakfast where we showed up and there was no one to receive us. The tea was cold and I had to wait for 5-10 min to get a hold of a server and asked for a hot tea..
chateau de la guide is a great establishment and has the potential to be a lot better once they can fix the staff skill and professionalism.
One more thing, we dined at the bar and the food was really bad. The beef skewers were super s wet and overcooked. Tempura was absolutely cold and charcuterie was stale.
Lots of opportunities here"
"Bedroom is not clean! We like the amenities and the well decorated lobby and bedrooms. But the bedroom wasn’t clean, no soap, just 1 towel, they didn’t cleaned the bedroom during the 3 days. We told about for the missing items but no response until we had to go to the receptionist to request it again for 3 rd time.
The staff at the lobby just speak French.
Need also maintenance at the hallway of the
Bedroom, has one damage wall with holes that gave us a bad impression."
