"Great location on Moonstone Beach; ocean view room is superb! Beach boardwalk and access is right across the street. And 500 ft from the Moonstone Beach Cafe for excellent seafood and other dining."

The Rigdon House

6/10 Okay

"This was our third stay at Rigdon House and our worst. We like Rigdon House because check-in and check-out is--at least was--easy; rooms are clean with good amenities; restaurants and shops are in easy walking distance; and there's a huge patio in the back with lots of seating. It was our worst visit because: 1) There was no desk clerk available much of the time. In our past visits there was always a clerk at or very near the check-in desk. We had to wait to check in. There was a posted phone number, which I called, but I had to leave a message. It was never answered. A clerk finally appeared. To his credit, he was friendly and helpful. But there was no clerk available when we left Rigdon House to head home. I like to get a print-out of the receipt to make sure there are no unexpected charges. (There never have been.) 2) The room mattress was terrible. It actually squeaked and creaked--fairly loudly--with each and every turn of our bodies. As said, this was our third stay. It is very probably our last, mostly because of the absence of the desk clerk."

"We arrived at 2:00 and, even though the hotel was not full, we were told our room was not ready. We came back at 4:00. our room had been cleaned but the computer said it had not. No way to check in. We waited in the lobby for another 25 minutes before finally getting our keys. This is not a pleasant start after an all day drive. The internet in the hotel is useless. Slow and constantly logs you off. I had important work to do, which had already been delayed by the check-in mess. this situation was made all the more difficult as cellular reception is also nil. Yes, that's not their fault but it makes reliable internet that much more critical. The fixtures in the bathroom, while generally clean, are ancient. An old bathtub with a shower curtain. The next day, our room was not cleaned. When we enquired, we were told that they only clean the rooms every other day. Not what I expect for the price we paid and, in any case, no one informed us of that policy up front. All in all a disappointing stay at one of the more expensive hotels in Cambria."
