  • I've always wanted to visit the beaches south of Palolem, and this time managed to see Patnem, Talpona and Galgibaga. This is at Patnem - as crowded and touristy as Palolem...just a little smaller. For a really beautiful quiet beach I would recommend Galgibaga, a few kilometres further south.

  • Beach huts, Colomb Beach, near Palolem Beach, Goa. Most of the accommodations at Palolem are cabanas such as these, although not all of them are built onto the rocks like these. Nearly all of them are built anew at the beginning of the tourist season and dismantled in April or May before the summer monsoon hits. The torrential rain and high water of these storms would likely tear them apart otherwise, and Goa's government wants to keep the hotels here small-scale and simple. They're also generally very reasonably priced.

  • Canacona is an administrative region in south Goa, in India. Canacona's beach belt, 'discovered' by tourism only after the 1990s, is among the most scenic. Palolem is a milder recreation of an east-meets-west Goan beach, with a rich variety of exotic food. Canacona is one part of Goa where hillocks jut out almost directly into the sea. Villages are tucked away in low-lying areas, which are carpeted by a sea of green-topped coconut trees. Until foreign migration and tourism came to this area, the coconut tree was the means by which many eked a living, apart from fishing.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities
A lot is going right for this place. We stayed for 3 nights, and even though the room was, let's say, condensed, we didn't mind it at all. The service, warm hospitality, prompt attention to details, and above all, friendly staff was the highlight of our stay. The owners are making sure you are greeted with a smile, and the support staff is following the culture. We would come back if given a choice
