The cabin was slightly dumpy, but it was kinda perfect. There were oddities, like the outlets being too far from the things that needed plugged in, but it was everything we needed. Comfortable beds, dishes to use, and extremely helpful staff. It was nice sitting on the porch area in the evening. Very quiet and relaxing.
Super cute room, I describe it as Grandmas House in a very loving way. Make sure to visit the river front on property. This place was very comfortable and relaxing.
I like the location in regards to downtown. I also liked the riverwalk area

I hate to leave a poor review because there were some things we liked about this place including its proximity to the river and the nearby covered picnic and stage area. However the sheets on the beds were not clean, and there are some areas where the owners need to reinvest/rebuild a bit such as the sink. It's a decent roadside motel, and the staff are nice.

Our cabin was very cute and comfortable and was very clean. But we had to hang a towel over one window for privacy as the curtain was not big enough.
And another curtain had holes torn in it. One blind was also broken up. But it was quite cozy otherwise and comfortable. Beautiful setting and convenient parking right by the cabin. The staff was also friendly and helpful. Our truck would not start in the morning and they offered to help us.
The Elkhorn Lodge is very rustic, and simple. That is okay, but we found it rather dirty. The dresser drawers didn't work (fell out on the floor), old coffee from prior guests still in the pot, lawn furniture on the porch falling apart, lamp shades torn, and in general a run down unkept appearance. The beds were comfortable and the fan kept the room nice and cool. The gentleman in the office was very courteous. We would not choose to stay here again.

It’s fine as a simple lodging. It was the only one I could find that let you bring dogs. Rusty and faded fixtures, no a/c, the staff was never at the front desk or answered the phone but when I did find them they were great. Clean sheets, floors and bathroom just worn fixtures. Fine for camping and fishing or short stopovers.
We live the peaceful area. My Favorite time is spend on the porch listening to the birds. We never saw deer by the road, eating grass. There is a swing in the grass area by the office. The tree keeps it shady.
Staff was friendly and helpful, room was cute and clean - but it wasn’t the room that I paid for. I paid for deluxe queen and we got the standard queen instead. (No kitchenette.) we were offered a discount, but it wasn’t the same rate the standard queen was listed at on the website. Would recommend contacting lodge directly to confirm room before you arrive to ensure you have the right thing.
This property has a lot of potential, unfortunately the owners do not invest in it. While I appreciate that it is a lodge and has the charm of a cabin/camping feel, it is very run down and not maintained at all. The grounds need serious attention - there are weeds everywhere, trash, and are just overall unkept. Spider webs are all over the buildings and entryway/doors. The room was filthy and doesn't properly get cleaned. The floors clearly haven't been cleaned in ages, our socks were filthy after only walking around for a short while. The shower had old residue on the walls from past guests and the shower curtain was nasty. It is evident it hasn't been cleaned or replaced in years. The toilet paper holder had been ripped off the wall and was on the floor. I found blood stains on the sheets of one of our beds the first night and had to get them replaced. The curtains in the room had moth holes all throughout and had to be replaced.
The only good part of our stay was the staff and the location. The staff were very welcoming upon check in. They did address the toilet paper holder, bloody sheets and replaced the curtain promptly upon request, which was very appreciated. We were in town for a wedding and liked that we were close to the venue.
A good place to land for a couple of days. We stayed in a room, which was a decent size. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. We did not experience any problems during our stay. Beautiful Chama River behind the lodge.
This was my second stay at the Elkhorn. The rooms are good sized, really clean and the beds are super comfortable. Will look forward to staying here again next year.
