"The only reason that I gave this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is because of our check in experience. We traveled by plane and arrived to the hotel 3 hours before check in time. I asked if it was possible to get an early check in if our room was ready. We were told we could if our room was ready for us. The room was ready, but then she broke the news to us that it’s a hotel policy that we pay $50 for an early check in. I think it’s ridiculous when we are already paying a lot of money to stay at the hotel (we were staying for 3 nights, not just 1). I’ve never had to pay an extra fee for early check in, ever, and we have stayed in a lot of hotels over the past year. The fee is completely unnecessary and it was always in the back of our mind while we stayed there. It seemed like a big old scam that we were being charged extra.
The positives - The hotel is in a great location and there are a lot of things within walking distance. The rooms are retro and really cute. The beds were comfortable. We got room service one night and it was really good. Having the outdoor pool at the hotel was wonderful."
"Unbelievably luxurious on every level and the nicest, friendliest, and genuine staff I have ever dealt with. Housekeeping visited twice a day, surprised us with champagne and rose pedals one evening, and we're so professional. Our main Butler, August was amazing. The club level staff from Rita to Dylan and Teresa made every meal and cocktail in the lounge a treat. The pool staff was always so excited to see you and help you pick out the perfect spot to relax in their brand new Salt Water pool. The transportation staff (shoutout Morgan) was supremely helpful and made every venture out to dinner or tours a breeze. I could rack my brain for a negative to this place and I'd die trying. Will be back, and hopefully soon. The Charleston Place was phenomenal from start to finish."
"10/10 hospitality experience. My favorite hotel I’ve stayed in anywhere. They made my girlfriend’s birthday incredibly special. Nothing was missed. Nothing was lacking"
"We loved this hotel, it has a serene quality.
Perfectly situated just off King Street, close to historic Rainbow Row, on a corner by a dynamic fountain and a pier, close to restaurants, bars, galleries and shops, it was a quiet, calm and cool retreat from the bustle and heat of Charleston.
Our room was spacious and well appointed, the staff; friendly and very helpful.
Breakfast on the roof terrace- great views- or where you choose to take it, was pre-ordered and delicious.
We loved the little touches the hotel provided: on tap tea & coffee, water stations with various natural flavours ie lemon, mint etc, a late afternoon glass of wine, cheese and nibbles laid out in reception and fresh baked cookies later on in the evening. Most appreciated.
Valet parking, which was reasonable in the context of other downtown alternatives, allowed us to dump the car for a couple of days and explore this highly interesting city on foot.
A very enjoyable stay which I would happily repeat at the Harbour View Inn."
