No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well prepared. We've put together a list of handy tips that will help get your Abu Simbel holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, pack your passport, travel documents, wallet and medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy book and a phone crammed with your favourite movies are some wonderful options. If you plan to catch more than just forty winks, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, make room for a few toiletry items to ensure you arrive at your destination feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and gasoline, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to go for comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes in the cabin by dressing in layers, and wear flat, enclosed footwear like slip-ons.
- You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To reduce your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression tights or socks and move your lower limbs often.
