Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Akranes escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having an awesome flight experience is to pack ahead. First up, the essentials: passport, official ID, credit cards and important medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help keep you entertained, like some electronic devices or a thrilling book. It's also wise to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of headphones. And of course, don't forget to chuck in toiletries like a toothbrush, facial wipes and a spare change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) lurking in one of the compartments of your hand luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive substances, like aerosols and matches, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Go for comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by wearing layers, and wear slightly roomy, flat shoes like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
