We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey a stress-free experience. Follow our insider tips and you'll be breezing through airport security and having a ball in Angra do Heroismo in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a cruisy experience if you carry the right things. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh set of clothes and a good book. Next, leave space in your bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, your important medications and maybe a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like a pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and gasoline, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your main priority when deciding what to wear during your flight. Loose clothing is a sensible choice, as are flat, slightly roomy shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
