Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to Asia could be simple and straightforward or it could drag on forever. We've put together some useful travel tips that will help you start your next great escape on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First and foremost, pack your passport, travel documents, credit cards and daily medications. Next, you'll need some entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling novel and a tablet filled with your favourite movies are always good options. If you intend to take a short snooze, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you'll arrive feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and matches, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to make yourself as comfortable as you can. Layer up in natural fibers and pack a sweater in case it gets cold in the cabin. Pick a pair of well-fitting, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the flight. Leave the stilettos and hiking boots in your checked baggage.
- The serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this from happening. Wearing a pair of compression socks also helps reduce your risk.
