No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've prepared well. We've put together a list of handy tips that will get your Avoca holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right gear. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare change of clothes and a few magazines. Next, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, any vital medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to take your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and fuels, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Choose comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes in the cabin by donning layers, and pick flat, closed-toe footwear like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
