Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've put together a list of handy hints that will get your Awaji holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be easy if you pack the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare change of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, make room in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, your important medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp or pointed objects lurking in your carry-on luggage. Other banned items include flammable or explosive substances, such as fuel and matches, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and opt for shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to pull on and off.
- You've probably heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To reduce your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
