We’ve pulled together all the info you need to make your journey a pleasant experience. Follow our tips and you’ll be hightailing it through airport security and having a ball in Baddeck before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a cruisy experience if you bring the right gear. Firstly, you’ll want some basic toiletries, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare set of clothes and a good novel. Next, find room in your bag for your laptop, a charger, your medications and maybe a quality neck pillow as well. Lastly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items differs between airlines, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, knives, spray paint and fireworks. Sports equipment like hockey sticks, and items that could injure passengers, such as pepper spray and firearms, won’t be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should always be your highest priority when deciding what to wear on your flight. Consider your footwear choice with care too, as swelling of the feet and ankles are quite common. Shoes which are flat and slightly roomy are always a smart option.
- A condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It’s the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this happening. Wearing a high-quality pair of compression socks or tights also helps reduce the risk.
