Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Brienz could be as easy as pie or it could go on forever. We've pulled together some useful travel tips that will help you start your next great escape on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy --- first, put in your passport, travel docs, bank cards and daily medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a phone filled with your favourite shows are good options. If you intend to take a short snooze, a quality neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, make room for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you hop off the plane feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between air carriers, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like box cutters, razor blades, aerosol cans and flares. Sports equipment like hockey sticks, and items that could injure passengers, such as pepper spray and guns, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Layer yourself up in breathable clothing and pack a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin. Pick well-fitting, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your luggage.
- A serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this happening. Wearing a good pair of compression socks or tights also helps reduce the risk.
