No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've compiled a list of handy hints that will get your Butwāl holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be easy if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a good read. Next, make room in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, your medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to take your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items can differ between airlines, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like box cutters, razor blades, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like ski poles, and objects that could injure passengers, such as swords and guns, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of your aircraft are not the best place for a fashion parade. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and don't forget to bring a cardigan as the temperature can drop inside the cabin. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are always a good choice too.
- A serious condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises in your seat helps to prevent this developing. Wearing a good pair of compression tights or socks also helps reduce the risk.
