No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well prepared. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Cairo holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First things first, pack in your passport, official ID, cash and daily medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a tablet crammed with your favourite shows are good options. If you intend to catch up on some sleep, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, leave some space for a few toiletry items to ensure you touchdown feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and fireworks, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your top priority is to be as comfortable as you can. Opt for shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to bring a sweater in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To reduce your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks or tights and move your legs and feet often.
