Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a seamless experience if you prepare well enough. We've compiled a list of essential travel tips that will get your Chaguaramas holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack in your passport, official ID, cash and daily medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a tablet filled with your favourite shows are good options. If you intend to take a short snooze, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you hop off the plane feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like tools, metal cutlery, spray paint and fireworks. Sporting equipment like hockey sticks, and objects that could harm other people, such as swords and guns, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of a plane are not the place for a fashion parade. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and don't forget to bring a cardigan as it can get quite cool inside the cabin on long-haul flights. Enclosed, flat shoes are also recommended.
- Most travellers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of inactivity. There's lots you can do to reduce your risk. Wear a quality pair of compression socks or tights, drink plenty of water and remember to keep your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or perform some stretches in your seat.
