Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a seamless experience if you're well organised. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Cortona holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a great experience if you've got all the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare pair of socks and a good novel. Next, leave space in your hand luggage for your phone, tablet and chargers, your medications and maybe a proper neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and matches, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and choose shoes that are closed-toe, flat and easy to take on and off.
- Caused by sustained periods of immobility, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect some passengers during long-distance flights. Lower your risks by staying hydrated, keeping your legs moving and wearing compression tights or socks.
