No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Cuenca escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, pack your passport, travel documents, credit cards and medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A juicy novel and a phone crammed with your favourite shows are some wonderful options. If you intend to take a quick nap, a comfy neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll arrive feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and matches, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Go for comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by dressing in layers, and wear flat, enclosed footwear like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
