We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight as enjoyable as possible. Follow our tips and you'll be hightailing it through airport security and having a ball in Cumberland in no time. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a pleasure if you carry the right gear. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean set of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, leave space in your bag for your laptop, a charger, any medications and maybe a blow-up neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and fuels, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your highest priority when deciding what to wear on board. Loose clothing is a wise choice, as are roomy, closed-toe shoes.
- It's likely you've heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To minimize your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks and keep your legs and feet moving.
