Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've planned ahead. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will get your Dieppe escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a comfortable experience if you pack the right things. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare change of clothes and a good read. Next, make room in your carry-on bag for your laptop, a charger, any daily medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between air carriers, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like box cutters, razor blades, fireworks and fuel. Sporting equipment like ice skates, and objects that could injure passengers, such as swords and guns, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should always be your highest priority when choosing what to wear on your flight. Consider your footwear with care too, as swelling of the feet and ankles can be a side effect of flying. Flat shoes which are slightly roomy are always a sensible way to go.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long-distance flying is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this, make the most of every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression tights and socks are also a great idea to help reduce this risk.
