If you're not prepared, airports and flying can be challenging. But there's no need to panic. Follow these useful tips for a hassle-free start to your getaway in Discovery Bay. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a comfortable experience if you've got all the right gear. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a clean pair of socks and something to read. Next, leave space in your bag for your laptop, a charger, any vital medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to take your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and poisons, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to feel as comfortable as you can. Go for shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to take a sweater in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Walk around the cabin and give your legs a stretch or do some simple exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
