Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well prepared. We've compiled a list of handy hints that will get your Doi Lo escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a great experience if you bring the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want some toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare pair of socks and a few magazines. Next, leave space in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, any medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have a sharp object lurking in one of the compartments of your hand luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable products, such as fuel and fireworks, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The goal here is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Don layers of natural-fibre clothing and remember to bring a pullover in case it gets cool. Always go with flat, slightly roomy shoes as your feet may swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and chunky boots in your checked luggage.
- A serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this occurring. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression tights or socks also helps reduce the risk.
