Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to Fakarava could be completely painless or it could drag on forever. We've rounded up some tips that will help you start your unforgettable escape on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First of all, pack your passport, official ID, credit cards and medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling book and a tablet crammed with your favourite movies are good options. If you hope to catch forty winks, a quality neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll touchdown looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and poisons, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your priority is to be as comfortable as you can. Pick shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to take a sweater in case you get cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
