We've rounded up all the info you need to make your flight as pain-free as possible. Follow our insider tips and you'll be zooming through airport security and discovering Fenwick Island before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a pleasure if you carry the right things. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare set of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, leave space in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, any medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) hiding in your carry-on luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable substances, such as bleach and fuel, and liquids and gels in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and opt for shoes that are closed-toe, flat and easy to remove.
- The result of prolonged periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect some passengers during long-haul flights. Lower your risks by drinking water, keeping your ankles and legs moving and wearing compression socks to help your circulation.
