Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Fort Benning could be a breeze or it could drag on forever. We've rounded up some useful travel tips that will help you start your next great adventure on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a pleasure if you bring the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want some toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare change of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, find a spot in your hand luggage for your electronic gadgets, chargers, your medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to take your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of your plane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a sweater as it can get chilly in the cabin on long-haul flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are always a good choice too.
- The condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Doing leg and foot exercises in your seat helps to prevent this from happening. Wearing a quality pair of compression socks is also a wise idea.
