Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you prepare well enough. We've made a list of handy tips that will help get your General Guemes holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First things first, pack your passport, travel documents, credit cards and vital medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy novel and a phone crammed with your favourite shows are good options. If you hope to take a short nap, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a few toiletry items to ensure you step off the plane feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have a pocket knife lurking in one of the zippers of your hand luggage. Other prohibited items include flammable or explosive products, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and liquids and gels in containers with a capacity of more than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to make yourself as comfortable as you can. Don layers of natural fibers and remember to pack a sweater in case it gets cool in the cabin. Opt for a pair of flat, well-fitting shoes as your feet may swell during the journey. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your checked luggage.
- The condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular leg and foot exercises in your seat is a great way to prevent this developing. Wearing a pair of compression socks also helps reduce the risk.
