Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well prepared. We've compiled a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Harpers Ferry escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, put in your passport, official ID, wallet and medications. Next, you'll need some entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling novel and a laptop filled with your favourite shows are some great options. If you intend to catch more than just forty winks, a quality neck pillow and some earplugs will also be useful. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some facial wipes to ensure you hop off the plane feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and poisons, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to be as comfortable as possible. Opt for a pair of flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and remember to bring a sweater in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
