We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey a stress-free experience. Follow our insider tips and you'll be cruising through the airport and discovering Huntington before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be easy if you bring the right stuff. First things first, you'll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare change of clothes and a good book. Secondly, make room in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, any vital medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and matches, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to go for comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by layering up, and opt for flat, enclosed shoes like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
