Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well prepared. We've compiled a list of handy tips that will help get your Jacks Point holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a pleasure if you carry the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as lip balm and hand cream, a fresh set of clothes and a good read. Secondly, make room in your bag for your electronic devices, chargers, any daily medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes tools, metal cutlery, spray paint and fireworks. Sporting equipment like ice skates, and items that could harm passengers, such as guns and swords, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to be as comfortable as you can. Layer yourself up in natural-fibre clothing and don't forget to pack a sweater in case it gets chilly in the cabin. Always opt for flat, slightly roomy shoes as your feet may swell a little during the journey. Leave the stilettos and chunky boots in your luggage.
- It's likely you've heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. There are many ways to lower your risk. Don a pair of compression tights or socks, drink plenty of water and get your legs and feet moving. Wander around the cabin or perform exercises in your seat.
