No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've prepared well. We've made a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Kizimkazi holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a cruisy experience if you bring the right gear. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a spare pair of socks and a magazine or two. Next, leave space in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, any daily medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow too. Lastly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between air carriers, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like tools, metal cutlery, fuel and fireworks. Sports equipment like hockey sticks, and items that could harm passengers, such as guns and swords, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of your airplane are not the place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and take a sweater as it can get chilly in the cabin. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are also recommended.
- Unfortunately, one risk of flying long-haul is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression socks and tights are another simple way to help lower your risk.
