Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Kokoda could be a piece of cake or it could drag on forever. We've rounded up some handy tips that will help you start your next great escape on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having a great flight experience is to pack ahead. So, let's start with the essentials: passport, travel docs, credit cards and medications. Next, bring items that'll help keep you entertained, like some electronic gadgets or a juicy novel. It's also smart to bring your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earplugs. Finally, don't forget to pop in toiletries like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a spare change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and matches, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to choose comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes in the cabin by donning layers, and wear flat, enclosed footwear like sneakers.
- You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression tights or socks and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
