Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well prepared. We've made a list of handy tips that will help get your Limerick escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, pack in your passport, travel documents, wallet and vital medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy book and a phone crammed with your favourite movies are good options. If you plan to take a quick snooze, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you'll hop off the plane feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like a pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and gasoline, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim is to be as comfortable as you can. Choose flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to bring a pullover in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
