Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you prepare well enough. We've compiled a list of essential travel tips that will get your Louisburgh escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a cruisy experience if you pack the right gear. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a fresh change of clothes and a good book. Next, find a spot in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, your medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like your trusty pocket knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and strong acids, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Choose comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by layering up, and wear closed-toe, flat footwear like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
