If you're poorly prepared, airports and flying can be daunting. But there's no need to panic. Follow these handy tips and enjoy a worry-free start to your time in Lugano. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having an amazing travel experience is to pack in advance. First up, the essentials: passport, travel documents, bank cards and any vital medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help keep you busy, like your laptop or a juicy novel. It's also wise to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of earplugs. And of course, be sure to toss in toiletry items like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a spare change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and fuels, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfy clothing and pick shoes that are roomy, flat and easy to slip on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to wander around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
