Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've put together a list of handy tips that will help get your Lumbini holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a great experience if you take the right things. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a spare change of clothes and a good book. Secondly, leave space in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, your medications and maybe a proper neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel documents and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and fuels, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to be as comfortable as you can. Pick shoes that are easy to slip on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to bring a pullover in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
