Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Mackay could be a piece of cake or it could go on forever. We've pulled together some useful hints that will help you start your next great escape on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a great experience if you carry the right stuff. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a few magazines. Next, make room in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, your medications and maybe a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like box cutters, razor blades, aerosol cans and flares. Sports equipment like ski poles, and objects that could injure passengers, such as firearms and swords, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your priority is to be as comfortable as possible. Choose shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and don't forget to take a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Most travellers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To reduce your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks or tights and move your lower limbs often.
