No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've planned ahead. Take a peek at these handy hints that will get your Mati escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a comfortable experience if you take the right things. First things first, you'll need basic toiletries, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare change of clothes and a few magazines. Next, leave space in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any daily medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, remember to take your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your trusty pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and gasoline, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Opt for shoes that are easy to slip on and off, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and remember to take a pullover in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
