Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've planned ahead. Take a peek at these essential travel tips that will get your Mbarara holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a great travel experience is to plan ahead. Start with the essentials: passport, travel docs, cash and important medications. Next, bring items that'll help pass the time, like your laptop or a juicy novel. It's also smart to pack your chargers, a quality neck pillow and a pair of headphones. And of course, don't forget to toss in toiletry items like a toothbrush, lip balm and a clean T-shirt.

Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and poisons, are also not allowed.

What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane are no place for a fashion parade. Wear layers and pick shoes that are closed-toe, flat and easy to pull on and off.
 - Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
