Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Mek'ele could be a breeze or it could go on forever. We've put together some useful travel tips that will help you start your next great escape on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a cruisy experience if you've got all the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a clean pair of socks and a few magazines. Secondly, make room in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, any medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like a pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and gasoline, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of an aircraft are not the place for a fashion parade. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and remember to take a sweater as it can get chilly inside the cabin on long-haul flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are also recommended.
- The condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises in your seat helps to prevent this developing. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression socks also helps reduce your risk.
