We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight a pleasant experience. Follow our insider tips and you'll be hightailing it through airport security and seeing the best of Midfield in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having a hassle-free travel experience is to plan ahead. First up, the essentials: passport, official ID, cash and daily medications. Next, bring items that'll help keep you entertained, like some electronic devices or a few magazines. It's also smart to bring your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. And of course, be sure to squeeze in toiletry items like a toothbrush, facial wipes and a clean set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fuels, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of your airplane are no fashion runway. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and don't forget to bring a cardigan as it tends to get cool inside the cabin during long-haul flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also recommended.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long flights is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To avoid this, make the most of every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression socks and tights are another great idea to help lower your risk.
