No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're prepared. We've put together a list of handy travel tips that will get your Mirissa holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you take the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, make room in your bag for your mobile phone, a charger, your medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and strong acids, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and choose shoes that are closed-toe, flat and easy to take on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Make a point of walking around the cabin or do some simple exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
