- Flying can be a great experience if you've got all the right things. First of all you'll need basic toiletries, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare change of clothes and a good read. Next, find a spot in your hand luggage for your electronic gadgets, chargers, any medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to bring your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between air carriers, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, blades, fuels and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like ski poles, and items that could injure passengers, such as firearms and ammunition, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Pick shoes that are easy to slip on and off, dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to take a pullover in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- The result of lengthy periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect some passengers during long flights. Lower your risks by staying hydrated, keeping your legs and ankles moving and wearing compression socks or tights.
