We've pulled together all the info you need to make your journey as stress-free as possible. Follow our tips and you'll be zooming through airport security and enjoying Namche Bazar in next to no time. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a pleasure if you've got all the right things. Firstly, you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a fresh change of clothes and something to read. Secondly, find a spot in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, any daily medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Lastly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and poisons, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to be as comfortable as possible. Layer up in natural-fibre clothing and pack a sweater just in case you get cold. Go for a pair of well-fitting, flat shoes as your feet may swell during the flight. Leave the stilettos and hiking boots in your checked luggage.
- The serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Doing foot and leg exercises in your seat helps to prevent this happening. Wearing a high-quality pair of compression socks or tights also helps reduce your risk.
